HI Aron B, I am happy to learn that you received the benefits from my video.

Your feedback helps me realize what is working. It also helps others to believe in their own self-healing.

I have just posted a video clip, Self-Heal Your Back Pain Yoga VIDEO Pt 1 that I think you might like.

This clip is taken from my Heal Your Back Now! DVD , which was the video you had access to in the past.

I think that even something as short as this 12 minute video clip will be of value if you practice with it.

Since you are in school, I am sure that you will welcome the relaxation that comes with yoga.

Please let me know if you would like me to help you with your healing.

Hello Yoga Norman!
You might find this a little weird, but I have been looking for you for several years. The first time I encountered yoga it was recommended to me by a friend whose mother had been a devotee with a spiritual group in San Diego. My friend handed me a video cassette with the hand written title "Heal your back now!". Enthused but not convinced, it took me a couple weeks to actually try the video. My first trial with it was miraculous! I encountered this kindly older gentleman slowly guiding me through postures which would end up significantly improving my posture and sending me down a path changing my whole out look on life. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, the video was lost to me. However, my encounter with it would bring me into much greater contact with the yoga community. Since then, I have tried to track down another copy of the video or its author, and until today, I had been unsuccessful. I am so happy to have finally found you to be able to say thank you, your video was truly a life changer for me. Even since then, I have never been through a yoga class that felt as sincerely healing or effective as yours.
I am so glad that you are putting these exercises available to the community online. I experience that often yoga classes are not basic enough, or perhaps more accurately, general enough to help or attract the kind of people who genuinely need this kind of healing.
Unfortunately, in the last 2-3 years, I have kind of "fallen off the wagon" of devoting time to yoga. I pinched a nerve in my lower back during a class, and since then, have also been a rear end car accident. Although I do not consider my self disabled, I have constant pain in my lower back, and have lost a significant amount of lower back and hip flexibility. Also, I have returned to school, and I spend a lot of time at a lab desk or working under a microscope, and have a hard time sitting for long periods of time, which unfortunately, is often demanded of me. As well, this lower back pain builds up while I sleep and makes it so I rarely sleep through the night. Last night was fairly characteristic in that I was so uncomfortable by 2:00 a.m., that instead of tossing and turning and disturbing my partner, I just got up and started getting work done. I have to look at pricing, but I plan on buying one of your DVD's. I don't want to live in pain or feel like I am limited in the activities I can pursue because of how bad my back feels.
I appreciate you making this web page and I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into helping people heal themselves.
Thank you Norman,
Aron B

Hi Pete,

Welcome to my blog. It is interesting and timely to receive your comment now since I had just started an article, which I hope to publish this week, with the title, "How Not to Hurt Yourself Doing Yoga." I think this article will be helpful to you.

In the meantime, I recommend that you practice with the free Videos and read everything on this site dealing with knee problems . This includes the "Comments" section after the articles, where you will find problems of others and the advice that I give. Especially read

1. Reduce and Heal Your Knee Pain and all of the "Comments."

2. René's Comment and my reply at the end of How Lemons and Limes Keep You Healthy

With regard to "Do your knee problems ultimately arise out of emotional issues?" I would ask you,

Why do you practice yoga?

How do you imagine that hurting yourself in yoga is going to help you achieve your goal?

What is yoga to you?

Why do imagine that you have hurt your knees so much for such a long time?

Why would you endure two knee operations and yet continue to hurt your knees?

Finally, don't think about having a knee replacement. Think about learning how to heal your knees, learning how to practice yoga without pain, and using this experience as an opportunity for growth. Read How Alida Overcame the Pain & Spinal Misalignment of Scoliosis.

Please feel free to let me know how I can help you,

Hi Norm

I have just come across your interesting blog and am trying to download some of your youtubes as I write.

I have a question which I hope you could help with. I've been practicing ashtanga yoga for 12 years pretty consistently, about 4-6 times per week, depending with what's going on in my life.

About 5 years ago I had my first medial menisectomy on my left leg and a year later another one on my right. The meniscus tore from too much pressure in lotus type postures.

I have backed a way a lot from lotus postures that put pressure on my knees but seem to keep aggravate my knee, perhaps doing further damage, even in extremely modified lotus versions.

What can you recommend in my practice and for my knees? Im 40 and the thought I having to have a knee replacement in the future is somewhat daunting.

Also, some people say, and I tend to believe, that my knee problems ultimately arise out of emotional issues. Do you have anything to say on this?

Thank you for your time and patience.

Hi, Lucia, Nice to hear from you.

I think that you have two conditions here, Fibromyalgia and Insomnia, that are actually interrelated in that each one affects the other. If you aggravate one condition, probably you will experience aggravation in the other. On the other hand, as you improve one of the conditions you will find improvement in the other.

One very obvious tool, which would improve both of your problems, would be to learn to relax better.

So how do you do learn to relax better? The method that will give you all the tools you need to learn to relax better as well as conquer your problems is the Science of Yoga.

Yoga is a complete system that will help you improve your flexibility, circulation, eliminations, breathing, strength, and concentration, which in turn will allow you to reduce pain, relax better, and heal.

Of course, Lucia, you will want some specific explanations and practices. So I am going to give you a testimonial from a lady who healed herself of Fibromyalgia. Stay tuned. I should have this published in the next two days. In the meantime, if you have other questions, or comments, please let me know.
