DEAR NORMAN

As you might imagine, with the work I do I spend an inordinate amount of time at the computer.

In recent months I have developed a reoccurring discomfort on my right side just below my rib cage. Initially, I had visions of it being something sinister such as gall bladder or pancreas, but it has just occurred to me that it could be muscular-skeletal from the terrible slouch and slump I’ve acquired while working. In fact, my awful computer-related posture is probably a common malady of many who lead the same work related lifestyle I do.

Remembering so vividly the great help you have given me in the past through your incredible yoga skills, I thought I would share my affliction with you and see if you could be so kind to give me some guidance.

Thanks much!    RAM

Dear Bob,

Right now I have 8 free video clips taken from my Easy Yoga for Home, Office & Studio DVD with techniques designed specifically to help reverse the negative effects of working at a computer. While sitting for long periods creates its own problems, the greater problem comes from the fact that we don’t change positions at all.

Frequently, all you need to do to feel better and reduce pain is to get your circulation going.

As you practice with these video clips, you will improve your circulation and loosen up all your joints from your toes and ankles all the way up to your neck and eyes.

  1. You can start with any of the free Videos on this page. Just try the ones that appeal to you.
  2. On this page you will find more seated Yoga postures that you can do right at your desk.
  3. A Very Slow, Very Easy Sun Salutation is one of the best, most complete yoga practices to reverse the negative effects of sitting at a computer, or just sitting too much. If you don’t have the space, or if you are not ready to get down on the floor, you can do just the first 6 minutes. This free video clip is taken from my Relaxing Hatha Yoga VIDEO,  now available for download in PRODUCTS.
  4. Finally, Self-Heal Your Back Pain Yoga VIDEO Pt 1 is the first of 3 Free video clips taken from my Heal Your Back Now! DVD.

Often the “Comments” section after a post has info on how others are healing themselves.

If you would like to read a first-hand account of how someone self-healed the pain he got from Working on a Computer, go to How Mark Healed His Knee Pain.

So now you have plenty of resources to heal yourself. All you have to do is put the time in and practice.

Please let me know if I can be of further help.

I wish you success and Namasté…………….Norman
